Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using AltText API ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
Service Description
AltText API provides an AI-powered REST API that generates accessible alt text for images. The Service uses third-party AI models (Qwen 2.5 VL, Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite) via OpenRouter to process images and generate descriptions.
Account Registration
To use the Service, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Provide accurate and complete registration information
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
API Usage
Acceptable Use
You may use the Service to generate alt text for:
- Web content accessibility (WCAG compliance)
- Social media posts
- Content management systems
- Educational or research purposes
- Any legal, non-harmful purpose
Prohibited Use
You may NOT use the Service to:
- Process illegal, harmful, or inappropriate content
- Process images containing sensitive personal data (e.g., government IDs, medical records)
- Violate intellectual property rights
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the underlying AI models
- Exceed rate limits or abuse the API
- Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization
- Use the Service to train competing AI models
Billing and Payment
Pricing
- Pay-as-you-go: $0.03 per image processed
- No monthly fees or subscriptions
- Minimum purchase: $5
Credits
- Credits are non-refundable once purchased
- Credits do not expire
- Credits are deducted only for successful API requests
- Failed requests (due to invalid images or server errors) are not charged
Payment Processing
Payments are processed via Stripe. By providing payment information, you authorize us to charge your payment method for all fees incurred.
Data and Privacy
Your Content
- You retain all rights to images you submit
- You grant us a limited license to process your images to provide the Service
- We do not store your images (processed in-memory only)
- We store generated alt text for billing and usage tracking
Your Responsibilities
- You are responsible for obtaining rights to all images you process
- Do not submit images containing sensitive or private data
- Ensure you have permission to process any personal data in images

Service Availability
We strive to provide 99.9% uptime, but the Service is provided "as is" without warranties:
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service
- AI models may occasionally be unavailable or rate-limited
- Response times may vary based on model availability
- We may perform maintenance with or without notice
AI Model Accuracy
- Alt text is generated by AI and may contain errors
- We do not guarantee WCAG compliance of generated text
- Review all generated content before use in production
- We are not liable for inaccurate or inappropriate AI outputs
Intellectual Property
- The Service, API, and documentation are owned by AltText API
- AI models are owned by their respective providers (Alibaba, Google, OpenAI)
- You may not copy, modify, or distribute our Service
- Our trademarks and branding may not be used without permission
API Keys
- API keys are confidential and must not be shared
- You are responsible for all usage under your API keys
- We may revoke API keys at any time for violations
- Lost or compromised keys should be reported immediately
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the past 12 months
- We are not liable for third-party service failures (OpenRouter, Cloudflare, Stripe)
- We are not liable for inaccurate or harmful AI-generated content
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising from:
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any laws or third-party rights
- Your use of the Service or AI-generated content
- Unauthorized access to your account due to your negligence
Termination
By You
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. Unused credits are non-refundable.
By Us
We may suspend or terminate your account for:
- Violation of these Terms
- Fraudulent or illegal activity
- Non-payment
- Abuse of the Service
Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Changes are effective immediately upon posting. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated via email.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [Your Jurisdiction]. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of [Your Jurisdiction].
Dispute Resolution
For any disputes, you agree to first attempt informal resolution by contacting us. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes may proceed to arbitration or court.
Severability
